underground kent

From Folkestone to St Margaret's at Cliff there are lots of gunning placements and underground tunnels, some have been closed off but not all, these would make a great nights vigil and sure we would get some great pictures from these places.

If you can find the locations and what is able to be accessed then we will definately add them to our list of places to investigate.  Thanks for doing this Alan.

The searchlight battery just outside dover would be a good place to start
and would be able to gain acess at night.

Fantastic, I will organise that then when we have a free evening.

Alan, Manda - you should check out this site:

http://www.undergroundkent.co.uk/

It has a wealth of sites regarding the coastal batteries and inland defences, but notably alot of info on the Dover defences, especially on the Western Heights. But...  please - BE VERY CAREFUL!!!   Some of the sites are by this teams own admission VERY DANGEROUS, and shouldn`t really be attempted to gain access. Also, from personal knowledge i know that alot of the tunnel networks and underground works around Dover and in other areas have be neglected dreadfully since decomissioning, thus have decayed steadily since the 1940`s. I had a very near escape at the Drop Redoubt, Dover a few years back, and that was in daytime!!

Any vigil you plan to do at these type of locations needs careful thinking about safety issues. I would certainly suggest you try to view potential sites in daylight before committing to a night vigil.

I have it in my favourites already LOL, some great places on there.  Only problem is many are now blocked off.

Many thanks for that and wopuld check out first and would only go to a place that would be safe for all and no chance of being cut off by tide.
If we could all not get there as members of our site, then we would not do a vigil there as we have members of all ages and abilities.

All vigils are welcome to all aged 18 to 100 and all vigils we try to make sure that all members are safe from earthly ospticals as it's dark and protect from any spiritual problems.

I would also like to do a vigil at Chislehurst Caves sometime this year
by the lake, it would have to be daytime but can not garontee peoples
safty psychicly, would be happy to do it on my own if nobody else wanted to go.
I've had some great spirit photos from there that are on site, but in the past people have gone mad here, i'm already mad so no chance of that
happening to me.

I would love to do that and I'm sure others would to.  It would be a fantastic experience.

Last night ofter we finished were we were, me Gary and Manda went to South Forland.
We parted up by the lighthouse and waked down to the cliffs were
there were old world war two gunning placements.
After there we found lots of underground bunkers and went inside some,
Some of them are safe to enter and would make great vigils.

We found one that looks great but would need ladders to get down to the
first layer, once down would be safe, these are the South Forland plotting rooms.
These were found more by luck as they are partly hidden in trees.
If gary and Manda are willing, it would be nice to have a drive around the whole area while it's light in evenings and see what else we can find.
Once done this, deside what would be safe for all the team to do vigils there on evening.

That was a fantastic find, thanks to you two for the navigating cause I'm hopeless at finding my way around LOL.

We have arranged a small invest 20 June to look closer at these sites and try to find the others in the area and check them out.

I will look forward to that

Should be really good and I think there may be more buildings there that we have not found yet.

We all who went had a great time at South Foreland
and well worth doing some more places like that.
I've had a look on e-bay and have put some bits on east kent coast maps of 1946, this should show were army sites were and wartime airfields
Mandatas

Thats fantastic thanks hun, Gary is gonna see what he can find out to.
