Penenden Heath and surrounding areaHow about 4th April for this one? We need to decide what areas are best to visit and who-ever knows the area best can decide which order would be best to do this in.

How about incorporating Thurnham Castle on this one?
""A 12th century flint-built castle on a hill also known as Godard's Castle which is built on the edge of the North Downs with a spectacular view across East Kent. One side of the bailey wall still stands ten foot high and originally it enclosed an area of about a quarter of an acre. These is no visible stonework on the large motte.""
I have been there during the day with Gary and it was quite active, although the ground is very uneven and the slopes very steep, it's well worth a visit and the country park opposite is an ancient site to and also active.

Message should read :-
The heath is accesible no problem and there is a nice next to it.
The church i was looking at is locked after dark so we would not be able to gain access to it or the grounds

I think we would still get a lot from the heath as that's were
the gallows were.
The castle sounds good to, not sure were it is but bet not any have done a vigil there in the past.

Alan, GHT (ESSEX UK) did a vigil at Thurnham Castle last year, and a University study group did one there in 2004, so im afraid its not new territory mate...
Best you don`t read our report on our site prior to a visit, but if you want names and dates checked afterwards, we got a hell of a lot of data from that site... well worth an investigation. Parking is limited though....

I'm sure he won't Shamen, we are very careful not to read about places before we attend. Nice to know only a couple of groups have been there though. It should be an interesting night and will make a change from houses and pubs etc.

im sure he wouldn` t Manda - thats not what i was implying... i simply wanted to get across that Thurnham gave us a vast ammount of historical data which we later checked and validated - names, dates, even events... both Andy, Dave and Pete in my team all linked in there.. they got very accurate info.
Im not sure if it can be proven, but i feel we got so much info because the site is seldom visited by groups, and perhaps the spirits there want to talk.....?
we were there at night - but would love to see that view in daylight...
looked amazing with all the little lights on...!

Me and Gary have been there during the day and although obviously not as active, still managed to pick up on a few things.

Our visit to Thurnham Castle was an interesting one. We decided to give the Heath a miss until next time as some of the team had to pull out at the last minute and I had been ill all week and it was decided that it would not be safe due to the amount of negative energy thought to be up there.
On walking into the castle, it seemed quite quiet, not much going on. We headed for the mound area the left hand side of the keep and both me and Tracy picked up on a group of soldiers some on horseback and some not, with a lead person on a pale coloured horse with decorative bridle and throw over the horses back with what looked like a coat of arms in the colours of red, gold and green.
We felt there was something moving up the back to the right of us which was more than likely something trying to defend the castle, but it caused us no problems.
Alan set up a video camera which was switched off after just a few mins of filming for no reason. It was moved and set up again in a different location and filmed with no problems.
The gate was heard to close, which meant it had to have been opened initially, but no-one was there. It could not have been the wind because it has a heavy metal spring and a spring loaded catch on it. After this the area went very quiet and we decided to leave.
Will be worth a visit again when the weather is warmer.
