Folkestone Downs

I have been trying to find out information about the downs - I have a lovely view from my flat of three hills on the downs and one of these is thought to have been a place where cesar had a camp and research has revealed that there was a castle built on the site.

There seems to be a lot of history relating to this area, including bronze age and saxon stuff. There is at least one natural spring over there (which is great for cleansing crystals and for water when clearing spirits ) and the site of an ancient holy well.

There is one area which definately calls for further investigation as there is a very bad feeling there. I have been told that in this area there has been a death (many years ago) which was never confirmed as suicide, murder or accidental death and I think this could be one of the reasons for the feeling. I came across this area while over there on my own and felt the energy was so strong I had to leave, it's not somewhere to go alone!

If anyone has any more information on the area, please do let me know.

Hi

I didn't know there was a natural spring there, or that there used to be a Holy Well and Castle. I knew that Caesar was meant to have had a camp there - hence the name of the hill - but that was about it.

I don't know if you know but somewhere in Hawkinge there is the remains of a Bronze Age settlement - it's not very large I don't think but may be worth a look. I found some info. on the internet about it once.

That sound great, could you dig out some more info and bring it along with you when we meet.

The downs are quite amazing really, there seems to be huge amounts of history there including Crete Road which is thought to have been in use as a pathway to the continent when there was no sea between us!
