Fake mediumsI have seen in my time a few fake mediums who just tend to try and put on a show rather than getting good results. I've known some people to research names before they go out. I think this just throws a huge amount of doubt into the paranormal field. What are your views

I think you are meeting the wrong type of medium.Alan our medium never researches a place before going on an invest.We try to go to somewhere different on every invest.We went on an invest recently and alan had no idea of the places history.

I totally agree with both of you, what is the point in pretending to pick up stuff and pretending to speak to spirit? It also makes life more difficult for those of us who can genuinly do it!!!

At Dynchurch, if i was to research, i could of never of found out about Doreens aunt Dot and what she liked and collected in life. By researching a place, all you can find out, who lived there, when born, married and died. You can not find out about a persons everyday life and if they are a grounded sprit, then why.
I do readings, but only give what i am given and sometimes makes no sence to me, but if the person understands, that's what counts.
On vigils it is easy to add bits, but at my spritulist church, i get told off for doing this. IE At dynchurch, i got the strong smell of fish, we were by the sea and thought of a fishing boat, but my thoughts, i was wrong and told by my guide not to jump the gun, it was a smoke house, this is so easy to get wrong and is why only give what is given, if i waited two minutes and would of been right.
If you give a person a fake reading, they have come to see you because they need help in the first place and can make there problem a lot worse and is not fair on them and can send them over the top, It's a bit like going to the doctor will a cold and coming out with heart tablets, what good is that.

Fake MediumsI watched a few of the TV mediums and found the Australian Skeptics site, where I read an article on cold reading. Yes, that is what the TV mediums were doing. Totally fake. Or was it.
Nobody can force spirits to communicate. You can go to a medium and ask to speak to your Uncle Bill, but if Uncle Bill is a no show, or doesn't want to speak to you, what is the medium to do. Yes, the medium should be honest and tell you. But what if it is a television medium who has to produce the goods and turn out an acceptable 1 hour programme? He/she tries to squeeze something out of nothing and gives an imaginary reading.
Just watch them. "I have a man. An elderly man. He had some trouble around his chest area...well between his neck and his waist. Why is he showing me a red car?"
"My Uncle Joe died of heart failure/lung problems/throat cancer/was shot in the chest etc., He always said that he wanted a red sports car."
"Yes. He says that his name is Joe and he is happy here. He has a red MG sports car."
Absolutely fake, but it keeps the ratings up.
Some time ago, as an experiment. I said that I was the worlds greatest psychic and that my readings were always accurate. Anyone who sent me their email address would receive a personal reading. A number of people sent their addresses and I sent all of them the same reading. The people told me that I was spot on with my readings. I had no failures. Now if I can do that for people I have never met, think what I could do if we were face to face and I could throw in a bit of cold reading. My psychic ability? Absolutely zero.
The art of being a good psychic has always been the same. Ask your client to tell you what they want to hear and them tell them what they have just told you. They will leave you believing that you are the best psychic in the world.

I strongly believe that if you are not getting any information - say so! It's not a crime to have nothing coming through and it's nothing to be ashamed of either.

As in so many other walks of life it is the charlatans that give the genuine mediums a bad name, having said that and not having "The Gift" myself I find it difficult to differentiate between the two.
I think that only by trusting your own instincts can you ever come to a logical and analytical conclusion.
Sorry Guys as you may have worked out by now I am a sceptic.

I certainly don't know any fake mediums personally, the three people who are helping me with my spiritual journey are wonderful and very gifted mediums (Alan, Harmony and KC).

I can't see the pooint in faking it as surely it would be better to be honest bout it. But on the other side imagine the shock the fake medium would get if spirirt decided to treach them a lesson and gve them the correct info for once.

I agree Trace, why pretend you are something that your not????? If I don't get anything, I say so, it's not a problem for me. I'm still learning, so I expect not to get stuff as quickly or as often as more experienced mediums do.
It would be funny if spirit did teach them a lesson
