This is probably where I get taken off people's christmas card lists.
The 'Orbs' in question here are moisture / rain.
The effect of movement as you can see in the photograph is caused by flash fade as the 'moisure' falls, combined with a slower shutter speed due to the darkness :
i.e. at full blast of the flash the droplet gets hit full on, hence the 'core' orb, then, as the flash fades and the droplett falls, less of the droplet gets captured leaving the tail.
