Introduction.

The Ouija Board has been around for many centuries, and can take many different forms. The Name Ouija comes from the two European words Oui (French for Yes) and Ja (German for yes), the boards popularity didn’t really take off until the Victorian era when it was mass produced and sold as board games, a practise that is still in use in some countries today.
There are so many stories relating to the Ouija Board, and the truth about them is becoming more and more distorted as time goes by. Many stories are bad, and tell of evil spirits coming and possessing board users, or even a continued haunting that has resulted from use of a Ouija board. But are these stories really true? Does the Ouija board attract evil spirits? Are they safe to use?
These are some questions that will be covered in this paper, as well as some logical explanations that may be offered for some of the alleged phenomena that has resulted from the Ouija board

Are Ouija board’s safe, and do they work?

This really all depends on how you use the board. It is advised that you only use the board when in the presence of a well experienced Psychic Medium. This will at least give a psychological boost and feeling of safety. The medium may be employed to act as a safety harness (so to speak) and monitor the spirits that may come through, if in the event of an evil (and I use the term loosely) spirit coming through, the Medium should be strong, and experienced enough to send the spirit back where it came from.
It is also advised that the group of sitters let the Medium bless them and put a prayer of protection on the group, the location, and all who may visit the location in future. This will again also be a strong psychological advantage to the sitters.
Whether or not the boards actually work all depends on you’re belief system. If you believe they work, then it will be incredibly hard for someone to convince you that it doesn’t (so I’m not going to try), also when carrying out a sitting using a Ouija board, you’re in a situation where you are expecting to have some kind of paranormal experience, this expectation can play on you’re mind, and you may start to put perfectly natural occurrences down to a paranormal explanation. This also is likely to happen in Séances at paranormal investigations. For example, you might hear a loud creaking sound coming from a floor board at the other side of the room and put it down to a paranormal experience, instead of looking at the possibility that cooling temperatures may have caused a natural occurrence where wood shrinks back to its natural size. It is well known that heat makes wood expand, and it will make creaking sounds when it cools and reshapes.

A good experiment to try (And I am not trying to convince anyone to try anything without proper protection, as mentioned above) is to recruit a group of volunteers to sit a Ouija board session and another two or three observers to be positioned around the table. Have the sitters sit TWO sittings of the Ouija experiment.
On the first sitting, just do it as you normally would, but have the observers write down all the questions and answers. On this sitting, you may get names, dates, and other usually expected answers to the questions asked.
On the second sitting, using exactly the same people, make sure that all sitters are blindfolded and cannot see the board. Have them ask exactly the same questions as before, then after the session has finished close the board off (opening and closing of boards should only be done by a psychic medium) and dispose of it. After (and only after) you have done this, compare the answers from the two sittings. As mentioned above on the first sitting you may have names, dates etc, but on the second sitting, it’s very doubtful that you will get even full words, and if you do, there won’t be many.
The reason for this is down to subconscious fraud or suggestion. On the First sitting if you ask a question and the planchette or glass moves to a letter, for example the letter P, then P names will flood into you’re head, this will cause a sub-conscious reaction and the glass will then be moved to the next letter of a potential P name, for example A, then on again to U then L, you will end up with the name PAUL. This can happen with any P name, Paul, Phil, Philip, Peter and so on.
The reason why you will (or may not) get translatable names on the second sitting is because no one of the sitters can see whet letter, if any the glass or planchette has moved to. This takes away the target names for suggestion to take on.
The experiment I have just explained is a good one for either testing the reliability of the board, or the people sat around it. If you carry out the two sittings, and get names dates etc on the second sitting as well, with everyone properly blindfolded, then this can be used as a good form of evidence to support paranormal existence. Just bare in mind that to really count as convincing evidence, the results will have to be recreated a number of times over, under Laboratory conditions, and in the presence of a Psychologist, or Parapsychologist.

Do Ouija Boards attract evil spirits?

If the sheer amount of stories that are circling about evil spirits coming from Ouija Boards are to be believed, then the answer would be an astounding YES. Needless to say that a lot of these stories are made up and I expect some have been made up on purpose as a deterrent to stop people using Ouija boards. Also needless to say is that a door way once opened can be walked through by anyone. If evil spirits do exist, then they may also be bought into the environment by the use of Ouija board.
As mentioned above, it is always best advised to have an experience, strong medium present amongst the sitters, or as an observer, just in case.
Many of the stories you may have heard about people having bad experiences resulting from use of a Ouija board could also be a result of auto-suggestion, or something to do with their own psychology. It’s not unknown for people to imagine things happening. It has happened to me, where I have been alone in a place that’s allegedly haunted, you’re mind WILL play tricks on you, and this can also happen as an after effect of using a Ouija board. The common line of thinking would be “I have used a Ouija board, have I left myself open to ghosts or poltergeist?” etc. Once you have started thinking like this, then you will perceive many natural goings on, as paranormal ones. This is what I think can be held accountable for many Ouija board related horror stories.

If you are experiencing paranormal phenomena as a result of a Ouija board, what should you do?

The best thing I would suggest is to contact a professional paranormal investigations team; they will in most cases have a strong experienced Psychic medium, which may be able to perform a spirit rescue, or clearance. This is where the Medium employs his/hers spirit guide to guide the spirit over to the next stage of its spiritual journey, either heaven or hell, or just to rest (depending on you’re belief again).

I’m going to end this paper here, because if I don’t, it will go on forever. If you have any more specific questions, please feel free to contact me. All messages received will be held to the strictest of confidence, and I will do my best to advise you in what to do etc

Thanks Manda :-D
There are a lot of people who feel the same, and with good reasons. I haven't used one before, and I don't think I ever will

I have and lived to tell the tale.

Only thing that bothers me is that my wrist always aches after holding my finger ever so lightly on top of the glass.

Kind Regards
Baruc.

Hi Baruc

What was you're opinion of you're Ouija Board session?
Was it any good, and did you consider it to be really paranormal?

Hi Dave_H,

I have not knowingly observed any paranormal activity in the sessions that I have undertaken, but equally, I have observed manipulation of the planchette, perhaps unknowingly, by participants.

Kind Regards
Baruc.
