Mirrors in Psychic Divination
And Paranormal Investigation
Like the interest and stories of ghosts, mirrors have been around for hundreds of years, and it’s no wonder then, that Mirrors themselves have an active part to play in paranormal investigation, and alleged contact with the dead.
But what does the use of Mirror’s entail whilst making contact with spirit, and how can they be used on a paranormal investigation?
These are both questions I am asked often, so let’s take a look at them.
How can a Mirror be used on an investigation into paranormal phenomena?
They are used in an experiment known in the game as Scrying. This is where a subject (person) is placed in a room in front of the mirror. The room is only just lit by a candle, so there is just enough light to see a reflection, then a second person will pour water down the face of the mirror (that should be positioned at a slanted angle), as the water moves down the mirror and distorts the reflection slightly, it is suggested that the reflection is then changed psychically to the reflection of the spirit who wishes to make contact. This can give the investigative team a description of the spirit person.
There are many explanations for what could be happening here, so I will run through a few of them now for the readers benefit.
The first real explanation is that the subject, who is straining to see in low light and the movement of the water down the mirrors, is actually playing tricks on the sitter. This is known as auto suggestion, and frequently effects investigations where little light is used.
The next explanation is that the subject or sitter is so keen to see something and is in a situation where they believe they may see something of a paranormal nature, this may trigger them to report the slightest change (that may be caused by the poor lighting conditions, or the presence of the water moving down the mirror) as something paranormal, when it really isn’t.
Mirrors in Psychic Work
Some psychics may from time to time decide to use mirrors as a protective shield from negative energy. This is perceived by some to be a big mistake, and if you listen to the reasons why, it does seem to be a well founded opinion. I will take a moment now to explain why this may be a mistake.
A mirror as we all know is a reflective surface, and is designed to reflect and image back to its source of origin. Let’s imagine for a moment that the image is actually energy. If a spirit person is trying to pass a message to a medium, or even if it is trying to pass a negative energy field by expressing anger towards the medium, then this anger could be reflected back to the spirit who was originally trying to send it. This may well cause to make the spirit person angry, and therefore more powerful in expressing even more anger and hatred, this may lead to the location where this is happening experiencing an upsurge in paranormal activity. It is thought that a spirit requires energy to manifest; this is in most cases emotional energy. If the only emotional energy to draw off of is anger, then it doesn’t take a genius to predict the results.
This is a subject that I do not really know too much about. The use of mirrors in divination is difficulty enough to research, but the use of Mirrors in paranormal investigation is even worse, there seems to be a redundancy of information in already published media regarding both these subjects, so if you have some information on it yourselves, that you think I may be interested in, Please feel free to contact me, I will much appreciate it
