We went to Greatstone on friday and is near Dymchurch on the marshes, the place we went to clamed to be old but when we went in the first thing i got was the word folly.
I was not to sure of the true meaning of the word so looked it up and means fake.
I,ve got some old maps of the area and found in 1810 there was no buildings there as it was a tidal area with no seawall, the area was knowen then as Romney sands. We anly stayed there for a hour or so and did not seem much point in staying there. We did pick up on about three spirits while there but the conections were weak.
We left Greatstone and went on to Lympne and parked up next to the exit to the castle, was not much around the castle it's self at the time of being there.
But when we walked into the churchyard the first thing i got was a lot of unrest and but a tree i saw a roman soilder, seemed strange as nothing there seems to date back that far, what is now the churchyard i felt was once a place of death, it would of been were people were killed.
I have walked into thousands of churchyards and had no problem, but i never felt easy here at all.
The strange thing is that it was a warm night but the churchyard was freezing, once we walked out, it was warm again. I do not know much about the history of the area but would be intresting to find out if the romans were there.
Each time we go out no two times are the same and have been to lots of places now but think this was one that i will remember, not so much Greatstone but the church was very active. This maybe a place in the summer to go back and film here as i think we would get spirit on film here.

There is a roman fort called 'Lemanis' which was a port as the sea has considerably receeded. The church is Norman but it was a roman settlement. The Roman walls can still be seen above the military canal. Hope this helps.

It was a bit of a shame about our first venue, especially as it's advertised as being very old. Your maps certainly show that it was not there when it was supposed to be. I'm still not sure where my spirit of the man with the large feather in his hat came from or where he fits in?
That church was awful, it terrified Gary and I certainly didn't feel safe there at all. Unfortunately I did have problems with something from there during saturday, but managed to get shot of it saturday night.
Definately worth another visit to the church, now we are more prepared and know what to expect. Next time we are in the area, we will visit again on the way back.

The pub was a bit of a dissapointment wasn't it, we both thought it would be a great place for an investigation, because of it's age but I think if we had thought about it a bit more, we should have realised it couldn't have been there in the 12th C.
